Water into wine John 2:1-12

One of the miracles Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee was water turned into wine. I often think about this incident mentioned in the Bible.(John 2:1 -12) One thing I noticed in that passage was Jesus and his disciples has also been invited for the wedding. I think that was the wisest thing the bridegroom ever done in his life.

Listen, when the wine was gone, there was Jesus to help him. Jesus saved him from a humiliating situation. If Jesus had not been invited for the wedding, He would have been preaching somewhere else, may be in Jerusalem or Samaria or some other place in Palestine. In such case, it would have been very difficult for the bridegroom to find Jesus in his hour of need. Situation could have been turned into an ugly incident.

I am so glad that the bridegroom had invited Jesus well in advance. There was presence of Jesus in the wedding. That is what we lack in our life. We often forget to invite Jesus in our functions. We forget to invite Jesus into our life. When we run out of wine, we started to look for Jesus. But it would be too late to find Jesus. Jesus would be busy in somewhere else.

Before you start your business, invite Jesus into your business, then Jesus would be there in your hour of need. Jesus would be present in you business. He will take care of every need of your business. Invite Jesus before you start your functions. That is the best way to make sure that everything goes well with you till the end.

We start without Jesus and when the need comes, we started to pry. Jesus come and help me! Jesus Come and help me! But You won't find him at the hour of your need.

That is why we need to start everything with Jesus. Start your day with Jesus. First you invite Jesus in to your business. Invite Jesus into your day. As the day progress, you will need Him to save you from embarrassing situations. In the time of trouble, He will be there to save you. Then your journey would be pleasant and happy. So invite Jesus in your studies. Invite Jesus in your family life. Invite Jesus into your social and personal life. Invite Jesus wherever you go.

But you need to keep in your mind one thing. Jesus is a holy and just God. He cannot accompany you when you go to unwanted, ugly places. He cannot tolerate your evil deeds. He is a just and Holy God. Holy spirit will guide you as long as you lead a holy life. The moment you turn from the path, He will leave you. Holy God needs a holy man to live with. 1 Peter 1:14-16 says "As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” God is looking for that holiness in you. When you turn to filthy things, when you entertain evil thoughts and evil deeds, he cannot tolerate with you. To lead a better life with God, you need to mend your ways.

Often we think we can go on with our business without God. You may be boasting about the money you have. You may be trusting in your health or wealth for continuing your business. Your money will not be useful when you run out of wine. You have money, but the need of the hour is wine. Your money will not turned into wine instantly.

When you run out of wine, you have to stop serving wine and go out to buy wine. You may or may not get wine with your money. The wine shop many not be open when you need wine. Then what will you do with your money? Money or health or wealth in which you trust will not save you in the hour of your need.

As a human being we may fell ill at any moment. In such moments, our money cannot save us. Only God can make a turnaround in such situations. Our dear and near ones will not be able to help us in the deepest darkness of our life. Only Jesus can help you and turn the situation to your favor.

You may have medical insurance. You may have good vehicles. You may have good contacts with able doctors. But all these things would not work well in the hour of your need if Jesus is not near you.

That is where the importance of inviting Jesus into your life well in advance. If Jesus is with you, you don't have to worry about anything. He is there to take care of everything. He will do the needful to rescue you. He will save you from embarrassing moments.

The second thing I noticed in that parable is that, Jesus performed a miracle when it was needed the most. It was not like that Jesus came to the wedding and there was no need of anything. Still he performed a miracle!. No, It is not like that. When there was a need comes up, Jesus come into action. Performed the miracle. Inviting Jesus does not mean that He will perform miracles instantly on his arrival. You may be inviting Jesus into your life but not seeing any miracles instantly. When the time comes, Jesus will perform miracles. He is waiting for an opportunity to perform miracles in your life.

When things go out of control, he will perform. When your might or strength goes out, he will perform. When your money or position in which you trust will not be in a position to help you, when you are helpless and badly in need of His help, turn to Him. He will not turn his face against you. He will be there to help you.
