Importance and need of a Mirror

True Friend tells the truth.

The mirror always tells the truth, not like your friends who tells good about you always

Importance and need of a Mirror

We all look at the mirror every day. Every home and office have at least one mirror. We use it to comb our hair. We do makeup in our face with the help of a mirror. We use it to see whether there are any wrinkles in our dress or dislocation of dress, etc. Every day before leaving our home, we go and look at the mirror to see how we look like. If the hair is not combed, we take time to comb it before leaving the mirror. The mirror shows us the exact reflection of us. Original quality without any modification, the mirror shows us how we look like. It doesn't know deceit. I won't try to tell you positive side of your life. It will not add anything to your appearance. It will not deceive you. You can trust it.

The mirror is not like your good friend who tells all good things about you and ignores all the bad things about you. Your friends will always say the good things about you. Your spouse will say good or sometimes nasty things about you. Your children may say something good about you to get something out of you. But a mirror is not like that. It doesn't expect anything from you. It's not looking for your love or compassion. It's not affected by emotions. It's not looking for satisfaction. You can trust it. That is why if someone says something about your appearance, you run to a mirror to see whether it is true or not. Because a mirror tells you the truth. You trust it. The mirror does its work without fail. It's not moody. It is ready always to do its job.

A mirror is an important object in our life. We cannot avoid the mirror completely. Avoiding a mirror can create embarrassing moments in your life. Apostle James talks about a mirror in his epistle. "Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like." (James 1: 23-24)

How to use a good mirror. (James 1:23)

Word of God is a mirror for us. Are we looking at it and correcting our life? If not, take some time to correct yourself. Often we try to look at our spouse through the mirror of the word of God. We want to correct them because he/she is sitting with us in front of the mirror of the word of God. We want to correct them. We want to correct our children while looking through the word of God. We want to correct our neighbor. We want to correct our pastor. We want to correct our fellow believer. We want to see them through the mirror of the word of God. The harder we try to correct them, the harder they resist. You will be discouraged and tired after many tries.

But the best thing you can do is look yourself through this mirror and correct yourself. It is easier than correcting others. Because you yourself take the decision to correct your life. You may not lover or agree or find it worth correcting yourself by the force of someone else. If you look at yourself in the mirror, you can find the exact fault in your life and the consequence of it. If you take a decision to correct yourself, you can implement it in your life easily. First, you correct yourself. That is why Jesus said, "How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye."

You must take the corrective measure while you are still in front of the mirror. Because James says that "after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like." Corrective measures must be taken immediately. If you think that you would do it later, then there are chances of forgetting what you look like." So take the corrective measures immediately. When you correct yourself, then your language will change. Your appearance will change. Your thinking will change. Your behavior will change dramatically. You will be a new person. There is dust in our face. There is mud in our body. There needs some washing. There need some soaking. There is the need of using detergents and sops. There need some cutting and shaving to make you look good.

When you go through all these cleansing and purifying process, it may cause some pain. But after you have done through, you'll feel great, look great. You will be feeling satisfied. The good news is that when you change yourself, all around you will be changing themselves. Your spouse will change himself/herself. Your children will change themselves. Your parents will change themselves. Your colleagues will change themselves. Your neighbor will change themselves. You will see changes all around you.

Jesus once said, "You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you" (John 15:3) It means the word of God can purify us. Do you know how it works? When we listen to the word of God, we need to accept it and change ourselves. If we are not changing ourselves, there is no use. We have heard a lot of messages. But we are not making any changes in our life. When you listen to the word of god, you should become more humble, more patient, more helping, more bearing, more praying, more loving, more kind, more obedient
