Merry Christmas and its meaning

Well Christmas has come around once again and another year has almost gone forever. I guess a lot of you are feeling weary from the pressures and demands of this year; however Christmas is a special time when we remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus. It really does not matter that Christ was not born on December the 25th, it does not really matter that the Christmas tree has its roots in some heathen custom, what matters is what it means to you. Our grand-kids love the Christmas tree and the Christmas decorations; to us it represents the tree of Life Jesus, who was born into this earth so long ago to redeem mankind. We can become so religious about whether we should have a Christmas tree in the house and weather we should celebrate Christmas in the 25th of December. Well I don't think the Lord will have a nervous breakdown if we celebrate Christmas on a day which was not His actual birthday. The spirit of Christmas is that God so loved this world He sent His son to die for us. You know there is a story in the Old Testament where the people celebrated a great deliverance by sending presents to each other, a nice idea.

Esther 9:19Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.

And again

Nehemiah 8:12And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.

We celebrate Christmas because we understand the words

Isaiah 9:6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

We want to thank you all for your wonderful support over the past year your prayers and giving has been a wonderful source of blessing to us, thank you. May you have a great Christmas and know the presence and the blessing of the Lord.
