Part 2 Raising our Perspectives of life
A chicken or an Eagle
Comparisons are often drawn between the perspective of a chicken and an Eagle. The idea of this comparison is often to highlight an earthly view as compared to a Heavenly view of life.
The chicken scratches around for food all day barely lifting its head above the ground, the eagle however sore to great heights which gives it a completely different perspective to the chicken.
Perspectives differ from person to person; my wife generally sees the likeness of things whereas I tend to see the difference. For instance I can look a car and see the differences between it and other cars, she will see the size, the general shape, and the colour, and whereas I will see that it is nothing like another car in fact it is totally different. Another car to her will be just like my car if the general shape of the car is the same. But when it comes to life we need to see the big picture as well as the details.
Most Christians generally see life as it relates to our time here on this planet. However the Scriptures reminded us that this life on earth in comparison to the big picture is just like a second in may thousands of years.
James 4:14 | Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. |
We tend to get caught up in our daily lives to such an extent that we loose our perspective in relation to the overall meaning and purpose of life.
Matthew 24:38 | For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, |
39 | And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. |
While we need to understand the importance of the time we have here on this earth and the opportunity it gives us to qualify for things far beyond out understanding in the ages to come, we also need to lift out heads like the eagle and see the bigger picture.
Understanding requires perspective
I can show you a picture of a tree with out any background in the picture and there is no way you can know how big the tree is or where it is growing, it needs some perspective to understand its size and location etc. The dictionary describes perspective as “measured assessment of a situation giving all elements their comparative importance”
Everything we can see around us is only temporary
Change is the only constant in the world and the lives we live.
Matthew 24:35 | Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. |
It is said of Abraham that he looked for a city whose builder and maker was God. Heb 11:10
New Heavens and a New Earth
Revelation 21:1 | And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. |
2 | And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. |
3 | And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God. |
4 | And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. |
5 | And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. |
Heaven comes to earth
This was always Gods intention. The New Jerusalem is a fantastic New City resting on a renovated earth.
Revelation 21:10 | And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, |
11 | Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; |
15 | And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. |
16 | And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. |
17 | And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. |
18 | And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. |
19 | And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; |
The size of this multi storied city is roughly 1333 miles X 1333 miles by 1333 miles high. I once had a glimpse of this city and it’s not as we might think it is. It is a glorious place with Gardens lakes forests as well as dwelling on every level and the higher one goes in this city the greater the glory there is. This city becomes the capitol of the universe.
To what purpose
We know so little about Gods plans and purposes; we tend to think is it’s all over when we finally get to heaven, when in reality it is just starting.
Ephesians 2:6 | And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus: |
7 | That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. |
Isaiah 9:7 | Of the increase of[his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. |
Luke 1:33 | And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. |
There is no end to the purpose and plans of God
Let’s take a very quick look at the universe
The star Alpha Hercules is over 400 million miles in circumference.
The North Star travels at 192 million miles a minuet.
The nearest star is 41 light years away.
A light year is the distanced travelled for the period of one year travelling at the speed of light; the speed of light is approximately 186,282 miles per second. It would take 41 light years just to reach our nearest star.
The Milky Way which consists of billions of stars would take over a 100,000 light years to cross it from end to end. Scientist have now discovered that there is over 1000 million Galaxies in our universe.
Isaiah 40:26 | Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these [things], that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that [he is] strong in power; not one faileth. |
Psalms 147:4 | He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by [their] names. |
5 | Great [is] our Lord, and of great power: his understanding [is] infinite. |
Job 9:8 | Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. |
9 | Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south. |
10 | Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number. |
THE MILLENNIUM WILL BECOME A TRAINING GROUND FOR EXPANDING THE KINGDOM OF GOD OUT INTO THE VASTNESS OF THE UNIVERSE.
Don’t loose sight of who you are and what your destiny is
II Corinthians 4:17 | For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding [and] eternal weight of glory; |
Sure times can be hard but like a seasoned soldier we must set our face like a flint towards the task ahead knowing that the present troubles are working in us eternal qualities that are need for the aeons to come
Redeemed humanity holds a unique place in the hierarchy of the Universal kingdomof God
Lift your perspective a little and the problems associated with this present age will begin to fade in comparison in the light of the Glory and purpose that God has for you
God Bless youN Johnson © July 26th 2007
