God Money and You
Matthew 7:11 | If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? |
12 | Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. |
I am asked more questions on finance than on anything else and I have found that many Christians do not have a proper foundation when it comes to wealth.
People hold many extreme positions when this subject is raised and because of this many tend to throw the baby out with the bath water. We need to be established in a sane balanced scriptural understanding of this very important subject.
Scripture is very clear concerning the fact that God wants to bless us financially, however many do not understand the conditions that God requires of us in order for this to happen.
God has so ordained that His Kingdom is to be governed by laws
Romans 8:2 | For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. |
Romans 3:27 | Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. |
Galatians 6:2 | Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. |
James 2:8 | If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: |
When Jesus said in Matthew 7:11 that our Heavenly Father wants to give us good things, He was quick to say in the next verse that this happens by obeying a certain law. Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets
It is vital that we understand what Jesus was saying here
Jesus was talking about receiving good things form our Heavenly Father and He said that this works by obeying a particular law.
THE LAW OF SOWING AND REAPING
The Lord does not withhold provision from us, and as we are His children we are told to ask for our daily provision Mat 6:11 HOWEVER Whatever we need we are to first sow to the Lord so that He can multiply it back, this is a law of the Kingdom.
No farmer would plant seeds in order to harvest the same amount that he sowed.
Incredulous as it may seem many Christians expect a harvest of financial blessing without planting seed.
I have heard many people say if God blesses me financially I will give to your ministry or someone else’s ministry, it doesn’t work that way. God designed a law that made it possible to have all the resources the church needs and that is the law which states you have to sow in order to reap.
You say I don’t give to receive more; I give out of a pure heart expecting nothing in return.
While that sounds very pious and holy it is not scriptural; I hear you say what about Luke 6:35?
Luke 6:35 | But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothingagain; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. |
What Jesus is saying here is that if you loan or even give to someone don’t expect anything back from them; however God will reward you according to the law of sowing and reaping.
The Apostle Paul was very clear on this when he wrote the following
2 Corinthians 9:6 | But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. |
7 | Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. |
8 | And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: |
9 | (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. |
10 | Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) |
11 | Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. |
We will never get beyond having our basic needs met if we do not sow seed.
Jesus said:
Luke 6:38 | Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. |
REMEMBER: No farmer would plant seeds in order to harvest the same amount of seed that he sowed.
Crunching the numbers
God is very precise: Give and it shall be given to you: Pressed down and running over.
Mark 4:20 | And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred. |
There is an old saying that is so true; “You cannot out give God”
2 Corinthinas 9:6 | But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. |
MOTIVE MOTIVE MOTIVE
We need to ask the question; “what about motive” many say you should not give to get, that is like saying a farmer should not expect more than he sows! A bit ludicrous really. IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE MOTIVE. We need to answer the question, why do we want a lot of wealth? If we get this question right we are beginning to qualify to receive from the Lord. The answer to this lies in Gods admonition to Israel in Deut 8
Deuteronomy 8:15 | Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; |
16 | Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end; |
17 | And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. |
18 | But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. |
Trial and Testing: Can God trust you with wealth?
God does not guarantee a fairytale like trip through life. Most Christian millionaires in the world today have been through bankruptcy at least once.
There is a Kingdom Principle that the places where we have been wounded, mistreated, abused, battled with sickness, we can receive authority to heal others of the same things. This is because kingdom authority is founded upon compassion, and you can only have real compassion when you have been in the same position as those who are suffering
Hebrews 5:2 | Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. |
2 Corinthians 8:9 | For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his povertymight be rich. |
Jesus new what it was to have nothing, this in turn gave Him authority to supply all our needs
Coming back to the question; “why do you want to be wealthy? There is no end to getting more things, keeping up with the Jones’s is a vicious cycle. We must set our standard of living and be content.
Kingdom Motivation
Matthew 6:31 | Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? |
32 | (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. |
33 | But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. |
Put Gods Kingdom first in our desires to have wealth
God brought the Nation of Israel out of Egypt with great wealth. WHY? So they could give it to build Gods house in the wilderness.
Deuteronomy 8:17 | And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. |
18 | But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. |
God gave them the power to get wealth in order that God’s covenant could be fulfilled
What covenant was God talking about?
This was the covenant given to Abraham in Genesis Chapters 15,16,17. God said that He would give to the seed of Abraham the land of Canaan and that Abrahams seed would cover the earth. God has planned that the seed of Abraham will cover the whole earth. The final harvest is upon us and countless millions will be swept into the Kingdom of God. Now God said I will give you great wealth so that the covenant I gave will be established. This covenant was not Just for Natural Israel it was also a picture of the end-time Kingdom of God and the harvesting of the peoples of this earth.
Matthew 13:39b | the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. |
God said I will give you power to get wealth so my covenant will be established, in other I will give you wealth in order to establish the Kingdom of God and bring in the seed of Abraham from every Nation. God has His eye on the harvest.
The Apostle Paul Said
2 Corinthians 11:22 | Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I. |
The wealth of the wicked is being transferred to the righteouse in order that God’s covenant might be established in the earth today and the finance needed to bring in and disciple the end-time harvest can be released.
This will not be Automatic
SEED MUST BE SOWN NOW
If you want God to be lavish with you SOW LAVISHLY
If you want God to do something outrages for you: Sow outrageously
A few weeks ago the Lord spoke to me in that half awake half a sleep mode and clearly said to me: Neville you are going to need finance very soon, sow to me outrageously. Little did I know what was on the horizon, as just days later God indicated the land He wanted us to purchase for an end-time project.
When I came to I said Lord what shall I do, It came to me to give everything I had to a missions cause overseas. So we totally emptied out our bank account and gave it all.
I now believe God will do something outrageously for us
I’m writing this in answer to the many questions I have received.
This is how it works; we must trigger the release, God says prove me now and see me open the windows of heaven for you.
Investing in the Kingdom of God is smartest investment you can make
Colossians 3:23 | And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; |
24 | Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. |
