Re-digging the old wells Daily Devotions

Re-digging the old wells
Daily Devotions
Genesis 26:18And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

Often in our search for answers we tend to look for something new, something exciting, the latest thing hoping for the quick fix for our problems. However many times the problems are a product of neglecting the basic foundations. A recent survey showed that over 70% of the new generation of charismatic believers had very little knowledge and understanding of the basic Christian Foundations. Their life support was in church meetings and various church activities, with most, daily devotions were non existent in their lives.

We do not derive our spiritual life and relationship with the Lord from church activities.
Jesus said this:
John 14:6aJesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:

The Pharisees went through all of the motions of church life but Jesus said this to them:
John 5:39Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Gathering manna is a personal thing
God sustained the children of Israel in the wilderness with food from heaven called manna. This food was capable of sustaining them totally. However they longed for other exotic food and when God gave it to them it brought leanness of soul.
Exodus 16:15And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
This bread from heaven was to be eaten daily and could not be stored.
Exodus 16:19And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.

Most Christians go from weekend to weekend having eaten at church on the Sunday

This manna was a picture of Jesus the bread of Life
John 6:32Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
John 6:51I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Jesus said I am the bread of life, He also said that unless we eat of His flesh we would have no life in us John 6:57-58

What did Jesus mean when He said unless you eat my flesh you have no life in you?
The scriptures tell us that the WORD was made FLESH referring to Jesus as the word.
John 1:14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus the WORD was made flesh and we are to eat daily of the WORD
John 6:63It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

We are responsible for gathering our own manna: If you went without food or drink for 3 days you would not be in good shape. Many Christians go without spiritual food for weeks, no wonder they are emancipated spiritually, no wonder they have problems, they are dying spiritually. They come for a quick fix on Sunday but that is not enough.

Discipline is a major problem of this generation
A well ordered and disciplined life is rare these days for most Christians. God given priorities are profoundly lacking among many Christians. This results in very poor spiritual conditions in many lives.

We must gather manna daily; that is we must come before the Lord in prayer and meditation DAILY and receive the LIVING WORD from him. That living, or quickened word is life to you, and you need it daily.

How much TV did you watch last week? How much time did you spend receiving the living quickened word to your spirit?  What are you feeding on?

Television is both a curse and a blessing; it can be used for the kingdom of God or the kingdom of Satan. The violence, greed, lust which makes up most programs saturates your whole being with evil, demonic forces flow into your home using this medium to gain access to your home and family.

Did you know that every born again believer has at least four guardian angels, however you either empower these angels or hinder them depending what you let into your home, these angels move out of you home when violence, lust, and greed, is pouring into your home via the TV.  Your home should be a place where angels feel comfortable, where the presence of God can reside.
John 6:34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

We must come daily and eat; receiving the Living Word it is life to you

God Bless you
