Part 10 Becoming like Jesus part 4 The renewing of the mind Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. The word transformed in this verse is the Greek word metamorphoo:G3339 Metamorphoo - a complete transformation. How? By a renewing of the mind. The word renewing means "changing the way you think or what you think" The bible says the carnal or natural mind is an enemy God, which is pretty strong language. Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. Our minds have to become compatible with God's mind, or way of thinking. Because God is love His thinking has to be like-minded, that is compatible with love. That's why we are admonished in the book of Philippians to think like this. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. We said earlier in these studies that: when you lips and your mind loose the power to hurt, you will enter into a completely new relationship with God, becoming compatible with Him. You will be transformed by the renewing of the mind. Because the bible tells is as we think we become, when our thinking and speech is renewed and becomes love you will be transformed. Satan is very much aware of this truth There is an all out assault on your mind. The mind is your greatest battle field, and whoever wins this battle for your mind his servant you will become. Defining the Mind of man This is very difficult as we know very little about the human brain. It appears the brain is a bio-electric, magnetic mass of grey matter. The human brain is an incredible Computer, it can be used for thinking, it can analyze information and come to conclusions just like a computer, but it is doubtful that it can originate thought. The human mind can be programmed with concepts, knowledge, ideas, and values and will run according to the programming. Satan's job is to program your mind so that it runs according to His values. He is adept at programming humans with lies and values that are contrary to God's thoughts and ways. Just watch television for a couple of hours and see how many anti God concept are entering your brain. Satan will try to program your mind. Video games have become a multi billion dollar enterprise, and are a very powerful tool of Satan, designed to program the minds of this generation of young people with hate, revenge, violence, and lust. Truly the battle is for the mind. Wrong teenage roll models are a powerful satanic means of programming teenagers with wrong values, contrary to Gods nature contrary to truth. Animals have a soul but not a spirit, man is a spirit and has a soul and a body. Animals have a brain that is largely pre programmed. Sea turtles hatch out and head strait for the water, who told them that was the thing to do? It's in their programming, we call this instinct. A dog cannot originate thought, but it can be trained (programmed) to respond in a certain way. Man is different; he is made in the image and likeness of God Man has a spirit as well as a brain; this distinguishes him from all other creations. Man has a spirit that can receive knowledge and understanding, we call this revelation, his brain can sort and sift information both from the secular world via the five senses, hearing seeing touching smelling tasting, and from God via his spirit. We have the privilege and awesome responsibility of programming our own brain, and we will run according to the programming. Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. His life will be governed by what has been programmed into him. 2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. When you were born again your spirit was infused with the seed of God, and all that God is, is in that seed. When you look at a tiny apple seed, it seems impossible that a huge apple tree with lots of fruit is in that seed, but it is and given the right climate and soil it will naturally become a huge, fruitful tree. When you were born again that seed of God was planted into you, given the right soil and climate it will grow to become like Him. 1 Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. Deep within our spirit which is joined to the Holy Spirit, is the mind of Christ. This is a fact; he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit, the problem is, our mind and our spirit are not compatible, they think differently. When our mind is renewed, reprogrammed and there is a compatibility between our mind and our spirit, light flows into our whole being and transformation begins. The mind is a gateway to our spirit and when it is unblocked light flows from our spirit into our entire being. The seed in your spirit cannot grow when your mind runs contrary to truth. But when your mind is renewed by truth, and you consciously cast out everything contrary to the truth of Gods word real and rapid change begins to occur. When revelation comes to us and is received by us, that is quickened truth; the mind is reprogrammed with that truth. Revelation carries with it the power to renew your mind. Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. When your mind and heart agree light flows into our whole being. Your Mind and spirit must agree. When your were born again, your spirit and your mind are not compatible, the mind has to be re programmed to conform to the mind of Christ in your spirit Philippians 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; We have been trained by the secular educational system of our day, in deductive reasoning based in rules of logic, the secular mind. Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. Reprogramming your mind, so that it thinks the way God thinks is vital if we are to become like Him You have to begin to take your mind back. This is where your battle is. Realize that you are dealing with a powerful adversary who wants your mind. 2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things This is war; you must fight, get your mind back and be changed God Bless you Neville Johnson © 2004
